Toronto Youth Partnerships & Employment (TYP)

Toronto Youth Partnerships & Employment (TYPE) is an intensive mobile case management program supporting vulnerable youth (aged 16 to 29) in Toronto who face multiple and complex barriers to employment. An Outreach Youth Adviser will help you stabilize your life by developing an action plan and connecting you to the right services, programs and resources.

TYPE helps you achieve employability by identifying your skills and interests and overcoming the barriers that prevent you from achieving your immediate and long-term employment goals.

Youth in the TYPE program have access to:

  • intensive, mobile and youth-oriented support and service planning
  • support in readiness for work and preparation for work
  • related to employment, education and training programmes

TYPE supports youth who identify as part of the following groups deserving of equality:

  • Aboriginal
  • Black
  • Newcomer
  • A disabled person
  • 2SLGBTQ+
  • Experiencing gender-based violence
  • Involvement in the administration of justice

Employment Support - Youth Employment Partnerships (YEP)

Youth Employment Partnerships (YEP) is a youth-friendly network of community organizations that offers coordinated support to young job seekers aged 15 to 29.

YEP is flexible to connect you to the right service, and through one-on-one support and mentoring, help you develop your skills and knowledge, as well as identify and secure the right opportunities with career potential. Next summer, work for the best boss ever…you!

Each summer, Enterprise Toronto runs a program to foster an entrepreneurial spirit among students aged 15 to 29 as they return to school in the fall.

Instead of a summer job, students have the opportunity to be their own boss. All you need is a good idea for a summer company, a detailed business plan, commitment and hard work.

In return, students receive hands-on training from successful businessmen, financial support in the form of prizes of up to $3,000, and the opportunity to test whether they have what it takes to become an entrepreneur.

Paid Employment Program - Toronto Youth Job Corps

The Toronto Youth Job Corps is a free full-time paid employment program designed to connect you to the workforce.

Do you have difficulty finding or keeping a job? Are you between the ages of 15 and 30 and do not have a job or school?

If so, the TYJC program may be exactly what you need.

TYJC is a full-time, paid job preparation program for young people, especially those who are in a difficult life situation or have difficulty finding a job.

TYJC will help you become more employable by:

  • Employment readiness activities
  • Training modules to develop employability and professional skills
  • Improving soft skills
  • Help in finding a job
  • Coaching of group and individual work
  • Supervised work experience through community-based work projects; AND
  • Opportunities to gain professional experience in a network of proven employers

TYJC is delivered by foilthanks to two phases:

Phase I - Employment Skills Training

  • 5-week group employment training where you will receive skills development training
  • A combination of workshops/seminars on life and employability in the classroom and a community project
  • The community project simulates a real work environment where youth will carry out various projects for non-profit organizations in the community

Phase II - Employment Opportunity

  • Opportunity to work with an employer for up to 16 weeks to gain real work experience
  • Gain experience and further increase your chances of employment
  • Browse and rate different professions to create a clearer vision of your future and what you want to do

  3. A Canadian citizen, permanent resident or protected person under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.

This program is coordinated by the Department of Human Development, Finance and Administration of the City of Toronto in conjunction with Service Canada and is delivered through four community agencies across the city.

Employee Development Program - ArtWorksTO

ArtWorksTO is an equality, diversity and inclusive workforce development program for Indigenous, Black, Colored and/or 2SLGBTQ+ youth who are working towards careers as professionals in the creative industries. ArtWorksTO was established in response to the need to create inclusive and representative career paths in creative industries for racial youth.

ArtWorksTO is delivered in partnership with the Neighborhood Arts Network Toronto Arts Foundation, City of Toronto, OCAD University and Remix Project. The program includes:

  • Portfolio Development Training - Offered to over 200 IBPOCs and/or 2SLGBTQ+ young media artists by OCAD University
  • Advanced Skills Training - Participants receive tuition fees, a stipend and student assistance towards a customized Certificate of Vocational Skills in Art and Design from OCAD University
  • Paid Work Experience - Participants are matched with a host organization through the Request for Proposals (RFP) process and receive a $4,000 contract
  • Industry mentoring and networking – participants are provided with individual and group coaching sessions throughout the program
  • Alumni Pathways - additional training, internships and paid contracts for young people who have completed the program

  • Youth 18-29 years old (at the application deadline)
  • Indigenous Black People of Color Youth (IBPOC)
